You probably missed this, because, well…no one reads The Denver Post anymore for obvious reasons beyond everything being behind a “paywall.” Apparently, the Colorado Air Quality Commission is going to require auto dealers in Colorado to have up to 10 percent of their vehicles be zero-emissions. So this isn’t hybrids like a Prius, we’re talking 100% electric like a Tesla.

They did this on a Friday. Usually, that’s when bills are passed or regulations are adopted that politicians and policymakers want to fly under the radar. Much like the requirements for percentages of power generation coming from only wind and solar in 2013, this is only the beginning. If history is any indication, that 10% will be much higher by the time 2023 rolls around.
In fact, Will Toor who heads the Colorado “Energy” Office had this to say:
“Between the status quo and adopting a zero-emission vehicle standard, we think there’s a very strong case that we’d be better off as a state adopting the zero-emission vehicle standard,” said Will Toor, executive director of the Colorado Energy Office.

WELCOME TO CALIFORNIA! Oh wait, we don’t think even California is as ambitious on these standards. However, we don’t want to start a race to the bottom here.
So cling to your guns and gas-powered vehicles (including hybrids!) because the government is forcing us to go electric. Elections matter!
