Denver, CO – Last week, we asked our readers if they opposed or supported a plastic bag ban in Colorado. The results show our readers oppose plastic bag bans.
Question 1: Do you oppose a plastic bag ban?
Results: YES (78) – NO (5)
Amidst the COVID-19 outbreak, New York delayed the enforcement of their new plastic bag ban until May 15. Reusable cloth bags are reportedly more likely to spread the virus.
Two bills in the Colorado State Legislature deal with prohibitions on plastic bags and plastic products.
HB20-1162, Prohibit Food Establishments’ Use Of Polystyrene, would end the use of most plastic to-go containers by restaurants.
SB20-010, Repeal Ban On Local Government Regulation Of Plastics, would allow local governments to regulate plastic bags and to-go containers.
We expect these to pass when and if the Legislature resumes convening.
