Thank you to all our readers who took the time to vote in our latest poll.
We asked: Do you support Initiative #76?
But, what was Initiative #76 again? It is simple but somewhat confusing.
The integrity of elections in the United States depends on the ability to ensure that only citizens vote. Initiative #76 makes an adjustment to the constitution of Colorado changing the inclusive “every citizen,” to the exclusive “only a citizen.”
Approved ballot initiative language below:
Colo. Const. Art. VII, Section 1. In the constitution of the state of Colorado, amendsection 1 of article 7 as follows:
Officially approved final language for printing of proposed ballot initiative #76Every citizenONLY A CITIZEN of the United States who has attained the age of eighteen years, has resided in this state for such time as may be prescribed by law, and has been duly registered as a voter if required by law shall be qualified to vote at all elections.
It is a minor change, but one that may be pertinent considering some states are allowing non-citizens to vote in local elections.
