In an Op-ed by the business leader group for the Oil and Gas Industry (yeah liberals, you’ll start attacking this before you read the article), permits for new wells are down this year…Significantly down.
According to the piece published in Colorado Politics, last year, before the Oil and Gas Industry killing legislation known as SB19-181 was passed and signed into law by our Boulder-based Governor, approved permits averaged over 400 per month here in Colorado. We wrote about SB-181 (HERE), (HERE) AND (HERE).
Can you guess what the best month for permits has been in Colorado since SB-181? Yeah, 166, that’s less than half (staff had to take off their shoes to do that calculation). The piece points out the number of times the Governor said that nothing would change, and we all knew that was just extra-rotten bologna.
We also think the author read one of our articles from last week on the dispute between the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission and Weld County. He points out that local control is ok if it is more restrictive on Oil and Gas operations, but not ok if it is LESS restrictive. Yes, we are aware of the hypocrisy of the left, and it’s not exactly an epiphany when politicians like Polis lie.
Of course, the left will attack these drilling statistics, with words like “context” and claim they don’t tell the WHOLE story. We see the narrative being, “well, there are just fewer requests, that’s why permit approval is down. We’re not picking on the industry!”
We all know that’s bunk, and the explanation for permit requests being down is because THEY REGULATED OIL AND GAS OUT OF COLORADO WITH SB-181…and other legislation since 2013.
You may not lean conservative, and if you don’t, consider voting with your wallet. Destruction of the oil and gas industry in Colorado affects all businesses and the economy.
Who is responsible? Here’s the list of State Legislators in competitive seats that voted for this job-killing legislation. In the House, there is Rep. Tom Sullivan who also wants to take away the 2nd Amendment. Reps Dafna Michaelson-Janae, Lisa Cutter (This should be a Republican seat), Matt Gray, and Tony Exum. In the Senate, there is Rachel Zenzinger, Pete Lee, Tammy Story and of course, Heroin Heroine Brittany Pettersen. Here is a link to a map to help you find these legislators or your local legislator.
