Denver, CO – Businesses can lose licenses, and people can receive up to a year in jail and up to a $1000 fine for violating the JeffCo mask order.
Jefferson County Public Health (JCPH) joined a number of other county health departments by implementing a strict mask mandate. It lasts until 6 A.M. on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. It can be extended or canceled at the discretion of JCPH.
These are the penalties for violating the order, according to Denver 7.
People who violate the law could face a fine of up to $1,000 and up to a year in county jail, the order says. Businesses that allow people to come inside without necessary face coverings could be subject to having its license suspended or revoked.
These penalties are ridiculous, and the order infringes on the privacy rights of citizens.
We recently speculated that these mask orders were not enforceable. Many of the county mask mandates exempt citizens who have a health issue preventing them from wearing a mask. However, this order requires people to produce documentation to prove they are exempt.
Forcing people to provide documentation of their personal health history is a blatant violation of their privacy.
What will Polis do?
The order came shortly after Governor Jared Polis called those who make the individual choice not to wear a mask “selfish bastards.”
It would not surprise us if Polis came out with a statewide mask mandate in the coming days or week. Polis’ “Stay at Home” order (that wrecked the economy and put hundreds of thousands out of work) came after Democrat-led counties and county health departments led the way with their own shutdowns.
There is a clear trend of these counties providing cover to Polis. If he waits until they issue orders first, he looks more moderate. This is not the case as Polis refuses to relinquish his emergency powers.

What law??
I’m preparing to get out of this Communist police state, heading for a freer state. .
Unelected bureaucrats mandating a “law” is not enforceable. Period. Sure, I get it, suffering a large penalty and perhaps a few nights in the hooscow isn’t an option many can take. The Alliance Defending Freedom or some such group would probably be ready to take the case on.
Yes, I realize that we, the citizens, have elected idiots into office that have granted extreme powers, emergency powers to the executive branch of this state as have many other states. This needs to be reigned in ASAP. Any “emergency” powers legislated to the executive must be, must be limited to 30 days. Then if its necessary to have a longer time frame for those emergency lockdowns for example, then the governor needs to have his plans approved by the legislature. I don’t care if the legislature is out of session, it’s an emergency. Call an emergency session and get the representatives on record. Then and only then upon legislative approval could those emergency powers be extended.
