His bid for President seems like it’s coming to a close, but one question hangs out there. Who is John Hickenlooper anyway?
Corky, liar, flip-flopper, goofy, socialist, gun grabber, and even chickenlooper are a few of the names we are comfortable mentioning here that Colorado conservatives might use when referring to the former Governor.
Colorado Democrats claim Hickenlooper is somehow a moderate, middle of the road Democrat, who ran a successful business, a brewery which makes him “cool,” and as Mayor of Denver he helped rebuild lower downtown into a popular (gentrified) spot for locals to kick back, watch a game, and enjoy a craft beer.
It was that, let’s call it average at best, resume combined with the Republicans’ failed effort to field a candidate worth a damn, mostly the latter, that propelled Hickenlooper into the Governor’s Mansion.
And with the Republican establishment tripping over themselves trying to peddle a more moderate and dull candidate with a flat-out unappealing platform, it didn’t matter which of the 101 flavors of B.S. Hickenlooper spoon fed the voters. The Republican nominee was so incredibly bad it wasn’t a race, in the first place.
But Colorado Democrats and team Hickenlooper believed they were brilliant, and that brilliance alone was what won the day. Their egos inflated with a helium-like substance and the idea “their guy” could become President sprouted.
All of this to say, we aren’t shocked to see the same fake-it-to-make-it campaign plan he always leans on, implode. From our perspective, it doesn’t matter how many consultants the former governor fires or any adjustments he makes to his team, the fact is Hickenlooper is too fake to be President.
For example, Hickenlooper lecturing his opponents for being too socialist is laughable.
How can a candidate with a record of taking away gun rights, supporting the largest tax increase in his state’s history (Ref C), mandating harsh job-killing regulations on oil and gas, signing Obamacare Health Exchanges into law, and stripping away more parental rights than possibly any Governor in the country, call himself anything other than a Socialist?
Not surprisingly Democrat experts on the big stage aren’t falling for it, and if Hickenlooper had been smart, he would’ve jumped into the U.S. Senate race as several of his advisors suggested early on.
Now a Senate bid may be too late with former state Senator Michael Johnston showing impressive fundraising numbers. Frankly, from our conservative viewpoint, Johnston comes across as a bit more genuine and honest than Hickenlooper.
The corky gimmicks Hickenlooper played to earn support from Coloradans clearly aren’t working on the National level. Whether it’s drinking fracking fluid to twist the idea that he supported the oil and gas community, or his campaign ads with him awkwardly wearing a cowboy hat to earn favor with rural Colorado. The truth is he’s always been nothing more than a Denver Socialist who likes to zip around the city on his little moped.
The truth is we are a little disappointed the dopey Governor from Colorado won’t get the opportunity to go mano a mano with President Trump.
It would be suitable for the Republican political class to witness Hickenlooper getting his butt kicked and see what could have been if they actually recruited a candidate with some stones who was willing to fight back against the Socialist mayor from Denver.

The internet is no longer a valuable research tool.. It took 3 search engines and 2 browsers before I could find out any conservative opinion on Hickenlooper.. I know over the years there have been numerous articles about his shady dealings.They have been scrubbed by our thoughtful silicone valley communists. Finally found this article. Thanks
