Denver, CO – Democrats are rushing a massive small business tax hike through the Colorado State Legislature according to a petition from the Colorado Chamber of Commerce.
The petition reads: URGENT: Stop a Massive Tax Increase on Businesses – Tell Lawmakers to OPPOSE HB 1420!
Now, the Colorado Chamber of Commerce is not a conservative organization by any stretch of the imagination. Their effort to stop this bill is telling on how far Democrats are willing to go to fund their pet projects (and Governor Jared Polis’ airplane).
HB20-1420 is sponsored by Representatives Emily Sirota (D-Denver) and Matt Gray (D-Boulder), and Senators Dominick Moreno (D-Adams) and Chris Hanson (D-Denver). It passed out of the Colorado State House on Third Reading and is now headed to the Senate.
The bill, is in fact, a massive tax increase that will hurt small businesses. Apparently, Polis did not do enough damage to jobs, businesses, and Colorado’s economy with his executive orders.
Essentially, the bill eliminates tax relief options created by the CARES act (the COVID-19 relief bill passed by Congress) for small businesses.
The petition from the Chamber of Commerce goes on to say this:
Sponsors of the bill disingenuously claim that it will only impact “big corporations” — that is categorically false. The specific tax deductions they are proposing to get rid of were specifically made for small businesses. If this bill passes, it will be devastating for small businesses and the workers they employ across every industry — from manufacturers to retail to agriculture to construction and more.
Small businesses are hurting in Colorado. Many restaurants still face permanent closure due to Polis’ strict orders.\
Businesses are relying on these tax deductions to survive.
Instead of cutting spending, Democrats are willing to let these businesses fail to fund their pet projects and boondoggles.

Yet another reason for a flat tax. Lifetime achievement award if you can recall from memory, the taxation rules in Colorado.
Hi – Would love to sign the petition but will not because it requires more personal information than is necessary to direct it to the appropriate representative. In fact, I had to put in fake information just to get to the petition itself to see if I even wanted to sign it. If you folks want to get maximum support, you need to show a bit of respect for privacy of personal information. Would still like to sign this if you can and will get the setup fixed in time.
Moderator –
I really don’t care if my “comment” is published as a comment or not. The only reason I have used this form to contact you about the tax petition issue is that I was unable to find any other way to contact you. (Another issue that could use some attention.) Whether or not you post the my comment here, PLEASE SEE THAT IT GETS TO THE APPROPRIATE PERSONNEL AT CCP FOR THEIR REVIEW AND, HOPEFULLY, ACTION.
The reason I won’t provide the personal information requested here is already discussed in my initial “comment”–rampant abuse of personal information, even by otherwise well-meaning organizations such as yours. (Yet another issue that could use some attention.)
The reason I am not going to do anything with this issue is that I can’t find what the tax increases you said the Dems are proposing are. I will not comment on something that I know nothing about.
I also do not like sharing my personal info so the data I give you is incorrect.
Why is everybody concerned about the tax increases or antigun legislation next year when it is more than obvious that the Democrat Party is nothing more than an extension of the Communist Party and should not even be any form of American Government as the Democrat/Communist party is out to destroy or deny everybody’s freedom. Want to be a good Communist? Become or vote for a Democrat. Want to allow the Democrat Party to continue in its Communist quest for total control? Join the Lackie so-called Conservative Republican Party.
It is really quite simple, our form of government is typically a political party government, a government where one party plays the good cop while the other plays the bad cop theory.
