Earlier this week, Democrats again showed their hypocrisy in an area they have historically been outspoken on.
They claim to support safe schools, but when a Republican brings a workable solution to the table they cry foul.
The House State, Veterans, and Military Affairs Committee defeated HB19-1112, Child Safety Accounts on a 6-3 party-line vote.
Introduced by House Republican Leader Patrick Neville, this bill sought to protect students who are the victims of bullying, threats, sexual assault, or other safety incidents students are involved with.
Neville’s proposal would have provided students involved in incidents the opportunity to attend a different school for their protection.
But rather than speaking out against bullying (as Democrats like to), and protecting sexual assault victims, Democrats sided with bullies and voted to force these children to risk their safety at school.
Thanks to the liberal teacher’s unions, Democrats defeated this bill on a party-line vote. Making it clear that students safety isn’t the priority if it means relinquishing control over education.
In a press release from Rep. Neville’s office, he states, “Democrats say they want safe schools, but their actions speak otherwise. When presented with an opportunity to adequately protect a significant number of our kids from harm, they chose the failing status quo over protecting vulnerable kids who wake up every day, dreading having to spend another day in a place where they are harmed or bullied. My bill was a compassionate attempt to help kids who deserve better than a dismissive vote from a Democrat majority.”
Why do Democrats feel it’s acceptable to play partisan politics when it comes to the safety of our children?
