The extreme-far-left wants to erase any semblance of what it means to be an American and what principles America was founded on. The latest (but definitely not the only) contestant to destroy American history is presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg (Pronounced Butt-a…something, fill in the blank here).
The current mayor of South Bend, IN (famous for some school called Notre Dame – apparently they have a football team) was on the Hugh Hewitt Show when he offered this little nugget. We give him props for addressing a potentially hostile audience on Hewitt, but beyond that – it’s appalling that we have moved so far away from our country’s founders that we could have a “top-tier” presidential candidate espousing this nonsense.
It isn’t lost on us that this is what the Founders intended with the 1st Amendment, but strangely enough, this may put the 1st Amendment in jeopardy if this guy actually gets elected.
We want to be precise here and not mislead our readers, so here is what he actually said:
“Over time, you develop and evolve on the things you choose to honor, Jefferson is more problematic… The real reason I think there is a lot of pressure on this is the relationship between the past and present that we’re finding in a million different ways that racism isn’t some curiosity out of the past that we’re embarrassed about but moved on from…It’s alive. It’s well. It’s hurting people and it’s one of the main reasons to be in politics today is to try to change or reverse the harms that went along with that.”
So, one of our more prominent Founding Fathers that is often credited with authoring some well known important documents, like something called The Declaration of Independence, and maybe a lot of something called The Bill Of Rights is “hurting people”. Yeah, we see too many hurting/melting snowflakes in today’s society. If these snowflakes understood the importance of free speech in a free society, then maybe they wouldn’t melt.
This is more part of a movement to destroy remnants of American history. Think of the destruction of monuments, and not teaching the Constitution (or just maligning it) in schools. If people don’t know about their rights, it’s that much easier to control them.
In regards to this, let’s shed some light. Here’s a couple of important links:
- The Declaration of Independence
- The US Constitution
- The Bill of Rights (If you don’t know this is the first 10 amendments to the Constitution, then please read)
If you don’t have time to read them all, we recommend all Americans should know and understand Amendments I, II, IV, V, VI and X. Pro-tip: the 2nd Amendment is to protect citizens when our government tries to take away the rest of our inalienable rights.
