Former Denver Mayor, ex-Governor of Colorado and failed presidential candidate John Hickenlooper decided to save us all by running for U.S. Senate. We predicted this (HERE) and (HERE).
We were hoping that with Hickenlooper running for president, he would no longer be able to damage our state and our country because he’d be done politically. We knew he had no chance to win the presidential nomination because he is just that bad and benefited from blind electoral luck in Colorado. We blame Republicans for messing up the two gubernatorial races Hickenlooper won when he was very beatable!
Hickenlooper is back, and we understand the psychology behind his decision. We’ve seen this too often, politicians who need to feel special and crave public adoration. We searched “narcissism,” and strangely, Hickenlooper’s picture popped up (this is a joke, but we would not be surprised).
Unfortunately for Hickenlooper, there are twelve other candidates in the Democratic Primary to challenge incumbent Colorado U.S. Senator Cory Gardner. Some, like former State Senator Mike Johnston, have raised a few million dollars. So, this may not be a total slam dunk for our former Governor.
Now it’s up to Senator Cory Garder to re-learn Politics 101, shore up the base (Republicans and conservatives), keep it simple, display personal likeability, and beat Hickenlooper or whoever wins the Democratic nomination. If Cory can’t do that with his current team, we have a few suggestions…
