Twitter exploded yesterday when anti-Trumpers hijacked the trending #RIP45, a hashtag intended to memorialize the 27-year-old pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels.

We questioned whether we should even write about this disgusting behavior, but decided it was an important point of discourse. What we will not do, is link or name any of the Twitter accounts disgraceful enough to make a joke at the expense of a young man’s memorial.

As baseball fans, as Christians, and just as human beings, it hurts terribly to see someone lose their life at such a young age and with so much potential.

We understand the hashtag is misleading and not everyone watches baseball, but the death of an athlete in their prime is nothing to joke about. No matter how much someone may despise the President or his politics.

The anti-Trumpers on Twitter joked about the death of the President of the United States. They lambasted the person who chose the hashtag and made countless insensitive and revolting remarks.

We are absolutely disgusted by this behavior, and we are saddened that so many people did not have the discretion to refrain from tweeting jokes. Just look at the quoted Tweet below.

Conservatives acting mad over the Trump jokes in #rip45….THERE IS LITERAL HUMAN TORTURE GOING ON IN BORDER CAMPS & REAL PEOPLE ARE DYING. YOU LOOK LIKE A COMPLETE IDIOT BY CRYING OVER TRUMP JOKES BUT NOT ICE. CALM DOWN YOU FASCISTS.

The party of “love and tolerance” has a long way to go. Political leaders on the left need to speak out against this type of behavior, but it is unlikely any of them will touch it with a ten-foot pole.

Please, show some respect, say a prayer for the family and friends of Tyler Skaggs, and rise above the hatred of the left.
