Soon You Won’t Be Able to Know What the Colorado Government is Doing

The government is using a big electronic shredder on emails…

Denver, CO – The Federal Government has a transparency law called the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA). This is to allow citizens to see what the feds are up to by making a request for information. Obviously, it’s supposed to be a government by the people, but the government doesn’t always see it that way. FOIA has been a small vehicle to keep them in check.

Colorado has its own version of FOIA called the Colorado Open Records Act, or CORA. CORA has been used to uncover various nefarious things the government has been up to in Colorado. It’s also been used by the liberal press and liberal groups to harass conservative politicians. But hey, if you aren’t doing anything wrong – why should it matter? The public has a right to know!

Well, that’s about to stop – at least when it comes to electronic communication. The new email policy with some state agencies is to purge any emails that are more than 60 days old. At least that’s the new policy at the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA). This is the department that regulates most businesses.

Under the last three liberal administrations in Colorado, DORA has not exactly been friendly to businesses. Now it will be harder to see what they’re doing. The Denver Post uncovered the email purge, and we think it is important. Colorado now lacks some government accountability, especially when the government oversteps its authority.

It appears that The Denver Post requested to see what other agencies have this email policy. They were basically told to go pound sand and make a CORA request. They did uncover that the Department of Corrections (Prisons) has a policy of 30 days.

The government hates accountability and transparency. Color us surprised…NOT!

  1. Really no surprise here. The left hates the sun shinning into their nooks and crannies. aka transparency. This why the are pushing the NPV. Or in other words, mob rule.
