NANNY STATE BILL OF THE WEEK: HB19-1143

In our nanny state bill of the week, we have another California-influenced bill. HB19-1143, would ban restaurants from offering a plastic straw without the consent of the customer.

There seems to be a pattern of these nanny state bills being supported by Kevin Priola. Not only does Kevin Priola want to tell cigar businesses that they can’t have smoking lounges in their own business, but now Priola wants to tell every restaurant in the state how to serve their customers.

Every day, more and more California legislation is making its way through the Colorado Legislature.

There was a time when California was laughed at for pushing this legislation, years ago. Now every day, Colorado is trying to be California’s younger brother.

But hey, we can support them on their moral intentions… after all; science has definitively proven that humanity can singlehandedly save the world, and reverse global warming, by not using that straw in your beverage (sarcasm).
