Taxpayers in Denver funded at least $200,000 in illegal immigrant defense funds and other projects benefiting illegal aliens in 2018. Denver will spend more taxpayer dollars in 2019.
Taxpayers are on the hook for defending illegal aliens.
The Denver Channel, Meghan Lopez: Denver announces plans to expand immigration legal help program
Mayor Michael Hancock established the fund with Executive Order 142.
So the hard left, well, most Democrats it seems these days, are up in arms every time President Trump signs an executive order. Maybe “up in arms” is not an accurate analogy for Dems who want to do away with your inalienable rights (2nd Amendment for those of you laboring through this Monday).
(On that note, many Coloradans must be furious with the executive orders signed by Governor Jared Polis and Mayor Michael Hancock).
Let’s get back to the focus of this story. Denverites, the city is using YOUR money to defend illegal aliens who broke federal law – Illegal aliens, who for one reason or another, are being ordered to leave the country.
The Denver Foundation
The Denver Foundation operates the fund. It hands out grants to nonprofit organizations to provide legal counsel to illegal immigrants, among other projects.
To make matters worse (if they can be), The Denver Foundation just hired a new CEO. He comes from Miami, great, let’s hope he doesn’t turn Denver into Miami, the Californians are doing enough damage (the liberal ones at least).
With streets crumbling and violent crime on the rise, Denver should focus on spending taxpayer money much more judiciously. Instead, they face rising costs for DIA construction and spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on illegal aliens. Many we expect are criminals.
Believe it or not, we still have hearts here at Colorado Citizen Press. We do not want to see families separated. We do not want to take away opportunities from folks who put in the work.
But, illegal is illegal, and deportation proceedings begin for a reason. The Rule of Law still needs to apply, and people who are here illegally need to take responsibility not to shift blame to the President and Republicans.
The bottom line is, this is the last thing taxpayers should fund. Let’s get our priorities straight!

This insanity must stop NOW! Why should I work and pay taxes that go to people who are here illegally and don’t pay taxes! Instead of giving illegals anything why can’t we get our roads fixed or feed and house our homeless veterans? Stop giving these violators anything! No more tax money going to them when we have to take care of our own first! If they want something how about a ride home!!
What seems to be the problem ? You got what you voted for. Votes have consequences, you got what you voted for, now pay up and shut up !
