Denver, CO – Governor Jared Polis stopped evictions in response to the economic crisis created by his COVID-19 response, and now tenants are abusing his order.
CBS4 investigated situations where tenants are reportedly not paying rent, despite no change in their income.
In one case, the tenants had not paid rent since last year. Despite the failure to pay rent being unrelated to COVID-19, the evictions process was halted.
There are no protections and seemingly no recourse for landlords under Polis’ order.
Folks, this is effectively property theft. Colorado’s government is seizing the rights of landlords to ensure their tenants pay rent on time.
Many of these people depend on their properties to pay their bills and mortgages. Polis took that income stream away.
Polis needs to reverse course immediately if we are to save livelihoods and our economy.
The government needs to relinquish control of people’s property, and Coloradans need to be allowed to go back to work.

Why did we work overtime for the past 10 years, to accelerate our payment schedule, so we could turn this small first home of ours into a rental? First we lost our doctor and dentist because we refuse to wear a mask. Now we won’t even be able to hold this home as a rental when we flee the state of Colorado? Recall!
Article 1, section X. This is interference with private contracts.
Colorado Freedom Force is suing Polis on behalf of a small business restaurant owner facing bankruptcy due to his lock down orders. Landlords need to sue him as well. The more businesses that take legal action against the governor and his health department thugs (note none of them are going without a paycheck courtesy of us taxpayers) the better.
