Scared of his shadow: Leroy Garcia is spending tens of thousands on ads

Senate President Leroy Garcia (D-Pueblo) must be shaking in his loafers because he just dropped more than $20,000 on television and Facebook advertisements, according to the Colorado Sun.

What’s weird, is Garcia is in the first year of his final term as a Colorado Senator. This is not generally when a candidate drops a massive sum on advertisements. But, after majorly mismanaging this legislative session, and taking heat for forcing Coloradans to drive in dangerous weather conditions to testify on the hotly contested paid family leave bill, we are not surprised.

See the odd video touting Garcia’s military experience and the Senate’s “accomplishments” below:

Garcia claims it is merely an attempt to stay connected with his constituents as well as, “reminding constituents and sharing with constituents the great work that we accomplished this year,” but after watching, we are not so sure.

The advertisement fails to cover many controversial bills passed this legislative session, including student indoctrination and sanctuary policy protections for illegal aliens.

So, what is Garcia up to?

There are a couple theories floating around.

The Committee To Recall Leroy Garcia is already formed, meaning Garcia’s constituents need only file an official petition to begin a recall effort against the Senator. With talks of recall at every level, including the Governor, it would not be surprising if Garcia fears a recall effort against him.

The other theory is the advertisements are an attempt by Garcia to raise his profile in order to take on Republican Rep. Scott Tipton for Colorado’s 3rd Congressional seat.

Either way, Garcia is hiding his true colors with this advertisement. He may have voted against the Red Flag gun grab, but he also supported nearly every other socialist policy brought up in the Senate.

In typical politico fashion, Garcia is attempting to play his constituency for fools.
