Will Hickenlooper’s Senate Campaign Sink Like His Hopes to Become President?

Denver, CO – Will John Hickenlooper’s U.S. Senate campaign sink like his hopes to become President of the United States?

After the Democratic caucuses on Saturday, that is a distinct possibility.

Former Speaker of the Colorado State House, Andrew Romanoff, soundly beat Hickenlooper. Romanoff took 55% of the vote, and Hickenlooper took a paltry 31%.

Romanoff is the progressive choice in the intense primary contest for U.S. Senate. He even supports AOC’s Green New Deal!

This primary race is shaping up to be a wild one. While the Democratic caucuses are often stacked with progressive delegates, Hickenlooper might not catch the break he needs in the June primary.

Democratic primary voters in Colorado recently delivered the state to socialist Bernie Sanders. If this trend continues, Hickenlooper’s supposedly “moderate” platform (it is still very progressive) may not earn him the win.

Despite this, Romanoff still has to defeat Hickenlooper’s huge war chest.

Of course, this could be good news for Senator Cory Gardner and President Donald Trump. We imagine messaging against a radical progressive in favor of the Green New Deal will help turn out the Republican base. Then again, most Republicans hold no love for Hickenlooper, either.

What do you think? Is Hickenlooper’s latest campaign starting to sink? Let us know in the comments and on social media!
