If you’ve been keeping up, we’ve been writing about all of the devastating changes Colorado has experienced under the control of the far-left. Well, SURPRISE – We’re going to continue reporting on this.

Today’s nugget is a reminder of who runs this state…or you could say the State Capitol has moved to Boulder, CO. Boulder runs Colorado now both via policy and geography. What do we mean by this? Needless to say, Colorado has taken a left turn in policy, but did you know our leaders are from Boulder as well?!?!? Here’s a quick list:

  • Governor: Jared Polis, lives in Boulder.
  • Attorney General: Phil Weiser, lives in Boulder (We think, we do know he is/was a law professor at CU)
  • Speaker of the House: KC Becker, lives in one of the most exclusive enclaves in Boulder
  • Senate Majority Leader: Steve Fenberg, lives in Boulder
  • House Majority Caucus Chair: Edie Hooton, lives in Boulder

So it should be no surprise of the dramatic leftward tilt we’ve seen in this state from the politicians that run it. For those of you that aren’t familiar with Boulder, CO – it’s probably the #1 bastion of liberalism in the United States. To explain Boulder to people who moved here from different states, we usually use these examples:

If you’re from Texas: “Boulder makes Austin look like Childress”. If you’re from California: “Boulder makes Berkeley and San Fran look conservative”. If you’re from Wisconsin: “Boulder makes Madison look like a conservative college town”. You get the idea…

So, with Boulder running the show in Colorado, we shouldn’t be surprised at what lefty stuff is coming out of the legislature, from the Governor, and that our Attorney General is joining every wacky liberal political-legal action. This needs to change and that’s why elections matter.

Since the main part of the article was a little long, here is some additional knowledge on what the positions of power actually do and how they influence things in Colorado. The influence reaches to all 3 branches of government.

Governor (Executive Branch) – Colorado’s Chief Executive. Has veto power of legislation.  Appoints Colorado Supreme Court Justices (Judicial Branch). The executive branch has grown and pretty much has its fingers in everything. There is a lot of autonomy here for bureaucrats and department heads.

Attorney General – Colorado’s Lawyer and legal counsel. He defends Colorado in legal matters, writes opinions on questions of law for both the Legislative and Executive Branches, and often sues the Federal Government on behalf of the State.

Speaker of the House (Legislative Branch) – Presides over the State House of Representatives, appoints committee members, controls when legislation gets introduced and which committee the legislation goes to. The Speaker determines the fate of every piece of legislation in the House – this is a very powerful position.

Senate Majority Leader (Legislative Branch) – People think that the Senate President has the most power in the Senate. However, traditionally the Senate Majority Leader has almost the same powers as the Speaker of the House, including controlling when legislation gets introduced and which committee the legislation goes to. The Speaker determines the fate of every piece of legislation in the Senate – this is a very powerful position.

House Caucus Chair (Legislative Branch) – The House Caucus chair runs all Caucus meetings, so this position is integral in the functioning of the Majority caucus.

The bottom line here is Boulder runs the State of Colorado, and Boulder values are consistent with a very small percentage of citizens in Colorado.

  1. I lived in Boulder for 35 years. I survived! When we left Boulder 12 years ago, I didn’t even look back. I was so happy to be out of the “9 square miles surrounded by reality”.

And now, as the author rightly stated, all of us Coloradoans are living in Boulder. Pathetic.

  2. What are Republicans and Conservatives doing to improve the message getting out to the votes for the next election?

  3. I moved to Colorado for retirement. I researched for 2-3 years different places w/in the US, I visited some and at the end I moved here for its conservative values. Boy oh boy was I wrong? After only 4 years and a few months I see how leftist are directing this beautiful state which is truly a God’s gift. I am now Re thinking where I will hang my boots. Bye commie Colorado I am on my way out.

  4. Living here in Boulder is like living behind enemy lines. Every day I am assaulted by the insanity of the left by my Prius-owning, howling crazy neighbors. I have lived here for 30 years, and the place has become absolutely crazy. I keep looking for any voice of sanity to elect to the local city council, but that has become a race to the bottom since every year the candidates are more left to the point where it is not even worth looking for someone who has any sort of balanced view. I just try to vote for the least crazy person in the asylum.
