Conservatives like to joke that liberals don’t like guns because they don’t like the “boom” that comes with it. Well… for Colorado
On Thursday, House Democrats voted to ban the possession of fireworks in Colorado during the time we celebrate our nation’s founding.
The current law allows counties to regulate fireworks, but between May 31 and July 5, all laws and restrictions are suspended.
New language from Democrats now gets rid of that exemption. So if you live in a county that bans fireworks, you can no longer celebrate the 4th of July with fireworks.
Because these regulations differ from county to county, Republicans offered an amendment that would protect people from traveling between counties that may not know they’re about to become a criminal in a different county.
This was defeated by Democrats.
So if you transport fireworks from your fireworks-friendly county, into a not-so-friendly county, you may be a criminal because of the removal of the exemption period.
To Democrats, the roman candle in your back seat is equivalent to that “scary” black rifle in your trunk.
Looking into the future, we wouldn’t be surprised to see the government approve a permitting process, a fee, and safety course, so you can have the “right” to shoot off fireworks as long as you abide by the guidelines of the state.
But you can’t have more than 10 firecrackers strung together.
