Denver, CO – $136.1 million in Colorado unemployment benefits were paid in the last two weeks – far exceeding the $102.8 million paid in May of 2009.
Benefits paid for week ending April 18: $74.1 Million
Colorado Department of Labor & Employment Report
Benefits paid for week ending April 11: $62.0 Million
Benefits paid for week ending April 4: $29.8 Million
That’s right, counting just the last two weeks, Colorado surpassed the record amount of benefits paid out in May 2009 during the Great Recession.

This is an economic collapse manufactured by Governor Jared Polis’ strict and oppressive “Stay at Home” order. The order will not be lifted until after April 26, 2020.
Once it is lifted, Polis says life will not return to normal. A large number of businesses will remain closed in Colorado, even after the “Stay at Home” order is lifted.
That means Coloradans will not go back to work, and unemployment benefits will continue to cost Colorado taxpayers tens of millions of dollars per week.
How does this make sense economically?
We are sure nearly every Coloradan is willing to practice social distancing at their job if it means they can return to work.
Instead, Polis plans to keep people locked at home and dependent on the state.
