The legislative session ends on May 3rd, and Democrats are scrambling to complete their radical agenda.
With only one week of the session remaining, more than 100 bills remain on the House and Senate calendars.
The bulk of the socialist agenda already passed out of the House and Senate, but some Democrat priorities remain.
So what is actually left in the House and Senate?
State House
Democrats are still attempting to push bad legislation through the House, including the forced vaccination bill that strips parents of their rights.
Today, the unconstitutional paid leave tax is on the House Finance Committee calendar, but according to sponsor Faith Winter, they will be looking at it next year instead.
Also in the House Finance Committee is the bill to radically increase taxes on nicotine products, including vaping products by 62%. This will hurt smokers attempting to quit as it is nothing more than another tax grab.
On second reading in the House is a bill to create a waste management enterprise exempt from the Taxpayer Bill of Rights. The program will affect nearly all of the front range and includes a “fee” set to rise each year.
Democrats are apparently already struggling to finance their expansive socialist agenda, and these late session tax hikes prove it.
State Senate
The remaining Senate agenda is even longer and more dangerous for Colorado.
On second reading, Democrats are attempting to rush more than a few bills through in the last six days.
Topping the list, rent control and the prevailing wage bills will worsen housing affordability and cost the state even more on public contracts.
Those coupled with Rochelle Galindo‘s ill-conceived minimum wage law threaten to make the cost of living in many cities unaffordable for low-income earners and college students.
The hotly opposed forced sexual indoctrination bill appears to be revived and is also awaiting second reading.
Further threatening the energy industry is the greenhouse gas pollution bill, along with a ban on styrofoam to-go plates.
Colorado’s economy already faces enough problems after excessive oil and gas regulations were signed into law. But Democrats in the state seem ready to implement Colorado’s own “Green New Deal” in an effort to eradicate the fossil fuel industry.
The war on oil and gas is sure to result in decreased revenue for the state, all while they create welfare programs to and lie about “market forces” causing the forced energy transition.
Finally, on second reading is the Democrat scheme to steal your tax refund afforded by the Taxpayer Bill of Rights. That’s right, the Democrats spent every last penny of your tax dollars and are now demanding more.
The Senate will also need to approve appointments made by Governor Jared Polis in the coming week.
With a seemingly endless list of pending legislation, one important question remains. What important legislation will be left on the table while Democrats complete their overreaching agenda?
